“ "I bet you're wondering how I knew Don't you know that I heard it through the grapevine" (Marvin Gaye) So how did I first learn about this terrific ice cream place? Well, it was sort of through the grapevine, but actually it was from a YouTube channel I subscribe to, operated by none other than fellow Hartford Elite Yelper Eric W!! When I saw him a few days ago, I mentioned that I'd be checking out Lacroix soon, and both he and Tiffany gave me a big smile of approval, because WYKYK, and they both already did. Our experience at Lacroix's started with the very friendly and welcoming woman who took our order and chatted with us. My wife and I both went with a small cup and we mixed two flavors in the cup. My wife went with Banana and Heath Bar Crunch (a best seller) and I went with Dulce De Leche and Orange Pineapple. Our cups were priced at $4.75 each. The ice cream was excellent, rich and creamy but not too sweet. I really liked my Orange Pineapple and saw little flecks of orange mixed throughout the ice cream. My wife enjoyed both of her flavors and remarked how "bananay" the banana tasted. LaCroix' has a nice outdoor seating area and a super cute water station for dogs. Five Stars easy. TYVM, Eric. ”
“ I recently learned about Lacroix's from CT Instagram ice cream expert @cticecreamtour. I believe he called Lacroix's a strong candidate for best newcomer or something like that. Lacroix's thereafter drew more praise from some of my friends. More than good enough for me. Lacroix's is a bit off the beaten path in Plainville. The area and the plaza itself were not particularly selling points, but LaCroix obviously tried to make the most of their piece of it with an outdoor seating area, disco ball decor, pink paint and white Adirondack chairs. There is no inside seating. Service was very friendly and they managed a line quite well. Lacroix's has a sign indicating that ice cream is made daily, and the flavors I tried were obviously fresh. The ice cream had a slow. stretchy, velvety texture. Texture was definitely a plus. Ice cream almost always tastes good, and Lacroix's ice cream was certainly tasty. That said, the flavors (Cookie Dough, Brownie Batter, White Chocolate Raspberry and Mint Oreo) didn't quite pop as well as other flavors I've recently had at one high end shop closer to home. I say that only to help explain why this is a 4 Star review and not a 5 Star review. In any event, add my recommendation to the others. ”
“ When two people say there's a new spot in CT that has what may be the best ice cream they've EVER had, you make it a priority to get there!!! When we arrived, the owners greeted us and told us about the different flavors and the new business, and gave me tastings of a few flavors I was curious about. They even shared ways in which they are planning on expanding their offerings in the future, we really enjoyed talking to them! They were great! But how can you make an informed decision, trying any less than 9 flavors? I can't! They have outdoor seating available with music playing, where we enjoyed stuffing ourselves full of incredible flavors! We opted to do a flight style experience (flights are not offered at this time, but we needed variety ), ordering 6 flavors each (only duplicating one). The last two below are the only two I was too stuffed to try: Coffee Heathbar Coconut Mint Oreo Banana Cereal Milk Orange Pineapple Butterfinger Black Raspberry Chip Peanut Butter Cup Cookies & Cream Cookie Dough There's not a single flavor that I wouldn't eat again! This small business owned by a local couple, definitely ranks up there with some of the best ice cream I've ever had, and I can't wait to go back and try more flavors, especially as seasonal flavors come out! It's fresh and homemade so they are closed Mondays and only open 6-9pm Thursdays to make more ice cream on those days!!! The community is supporting them and they've had days they've even sold out! There was even a restaurant next door! The shop inside doesn't have that much room for customers, but you're immediately hit with a different vibe. Its pink, with soft ice cream colors. There is a cooler full of ice cream, and waffle machines for their own cones! My ice cream was delicious but seemed to have a low melting point. I got it all over my hands, eating on the picnic table outside. It was absolutely worth every lick, and I had hand sanitizer in my car. The picnic area was sort of walled off from the rest of the parking lot, and had a water bowl available for dogs against the wall. ”
“ My Husband and I stopped at Lacroix's for the first time tonight and it was AMAZING! You're welcomed with the most delicious smell and tons of smiles. The staff were all so helpful and friendly. To top it off, the ice cream was 10/10! We were full from dinner so got Kiddie size, but WOAH- what a big bang for your buck. They even let you try flavors. The pumpkin cookies and cream was out of this world. We move to Plainville later this year and we will be regulars there! ”

“ It is hard to open a food business and I suspect even harder to open an ice cream shop. However, after being open for a little over a year, Lacroix's Homemade Ice Cream has beaten the odds. This team has crafted some most delicious ice cream in central Connecticut and gained a following that is well deserved. They are located in an industrial park and although the store itself is small - they do have outdoor seating and plenty of parking. While I was there I saw many locals as well as those who came from different parts of Connecticut with cooler's in hand. You know you've found a good spot when coolers are involved. We were going to take our ice cream to go but opted to sit outside and people-watch. Mark ordered his in a waffle cone (his go-to) and loved that the waffle cones were made on the spot. I also got a cone but opted for a cake cone as I did not want the cone to overpower the ice cream. If you are in Central Connecticut and hankering for some ice cream - skip the DQ down the street and head over to Lacroix Homemade Ice Cream. ”
“ Tried to go to the wildly popular Rich's Ice Cream Farm but the line was 75 people deep so we decided to try Lacroix's. I am very glad I did. Lacroix's is a small family owned ice cream shop in Plainville that takes a simple but authentic approach to ice cream. You won't find Instagram worthy towers of ice cream with 20 different toppings. LaCroix does one thing and they do it well, no-frills, homemade ice cream. I tried the Butter Crunch ice cream with caramel sauce and rainbow sprinkles (one of the few side toppings they have) while the wife went with Heath Bar Coffee with some homemade chocolate sprinkles. The Butter Crunch is very similar to the popular Friendly's version, and it was spectacular. Rich buttery flavor with chunks of butterscotch throughout. The caramel sauce just put it over the top. Really outstanding flavor. My wife could not stop raving about the Heath Bar Coffee commenting it was the best coffee flavored ice cream she had ever had. LaCroix was a really pleasant surprise. Can't wait to go back to dive deeper into their flavors. A must try if you live in the Southington/ Plainville area. ”
